Marshawn Lynch: Carroll: ‘Really good chance’ Lynch plays
In typical Marshawn fashion, Lynch broke the news without much fuss, simply sending ESPN’s Kenny Mayne a two word text “I’m ready”, as reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Pete Carroll spoke with reporters after practice Friday, saying Lynch’s “bags were packed” and there was a good chance he’d play Sunday.
And at 3:18 p.m., Friday, Lynch carried those bags onto one of the team’s four buses ferrying the team to its charter flight to Charlotte, N.C.
After pulling himself out of last week’s Wild Card game, Marshawn Lynch should be ready to play for Sunday’s game as his Seattle Seahawks travel to take on the top-seeded Carolina Panthers in the NFC’s Divisional Round of the playoffs.
Lynch hasn’t played since November 15 due to an abdominal injury, and he had surgery November 25. The Seahawks (11-6) officially listed him as probable.
In the 2015 regular season, Lynch was limited to only seven games because of the injury, the fewest in his National Football League (NFL) career since getting drafted in 2007 by the Buffalo Bills. “You could see that he made an improvement”. But as teammates, we want him to be healthy. “He really did”, Carroll said.
“He’s going to play a lot”, Carroll said of Michael. Carroll asked. “Not always do we know. We’ll figure that out as the game goes along”.
The coach said even with Lynch’s return, fill-in Christine Michael will remain a part of the offense. “We’re expecting him to be in and out of there regularly”. In the teams’ previous matchup this season, where Carolina won in Seattle 27-23, Lynch had 17 carries for 54 yards and a touchdown. Nobody really runs like him at all, and hopefully we can have him out there on the field. Lynch could have made a difference in the weather and brutal physicality of the game. “But obviously, when he’s in there I definitely think their defense has to be in tune, ‘OK, Marshawn’s in the game, ‘ one of those things”.
