Chris Christie said New Jersey has “eliminated” Common Core. It hasn’t.
The comments came at last night’s South Carolina Republican debate when he was asked about how important it was to remove Syrian President Bashar Assad from power.
Christie’s statement that voters were so fed up with Obama they would “kick your rear end out of the White House” also continued to attract attention. “When I am president of the United States, we are not appointing justices like that to the Supreme Court”. And, he said, doctors told the family that the girl needed immediate therapeutic interventions they couldn’t afford and insurance refused to pay.
Christie has since said he was misquoted, and never made any such contribution. “You’re not going to have peace in Syria with Assad in charge”.
Christie went head to head with Florida Sen.
“Donald is right that China is running over President Obama like he is a child”. Rubio took the opportunity to repeat his claims about Christie, namely that he donated money to Planned Parenthood, supported Sonia Sotomayor, and supported gun control.
To stand out of the still-crowded field of Republican candidates at Thursday night’s Fox Business presidential debate, The New York Times editorial board suggested Gov. Chris Christie promote the idea of smart guns as a way to find a middle ground with Democrats.

Rubio interrupted and said he would now answer the question, but Christie cut him off.
Smith also pointed out that the New Jersey Democratic Party in 2009 accused Christie of rejecting Sotomayor.
A separate Christie panel recommended the state continue using a Common Core-aligned test – and require it for graduation by 2021. In fact, in New Jersey, we made it easier to get a hide and carry permit. The same quote appeared again in a book, “Chris Christie: The Inside Story of his Rise to Power”, a book with which Christie cooperated.
Who is right? Did Christie support Sotomayor or not?
In a radio debate May 27, 2009, Christie was asked: “Would you have appointed her or even considered her for a top appointment to the bench?” Christie said that revenue could be used to rebuild crumbling roads and bridges.
“Lots of people will say lots of different things about me in this campaign and others, but the one thing they’ve never said about me is that I’m misunderstood, and so when we talk to our allies and we give them our word, in a Christie administration, they know we’re going to keep it”, Christie said.
That’s not the America Christie sees. “The president wants to do things without working with his Congress, without working with the legislature, without getting the consent of the American people. You had only 21 Republican governors in this country, and now after seven years of your policies, we have the biggest majority since the 1920s in the house, a Republican majority in the Senate, and 31 out of 50 Republican governors”, Christie said.
