Walsh missed a field goal late in the second half of an NFL wild-card football game against the Seattle Seahawks, Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, in Minneapolis.
The first-grade wing at Northpoint Elementary School isn’t usually a quiet place, and Thursday was no exception. The letters the group wrote consoled Walsh, and they all told him that everything would be alright.
Judie Offerdahl had the children write and draw for Walsh even though some of the students were unaware of the player or his nightmarish miss. It shows Walsh lining up for the kick with projected trajectory way off to the left, the direction his missed attempt sailed.
The small-town Tennessee couple that bought one of three magic tickets splitting the world-record $1.6 billion Powerball jackpot says they don’t plan to quit their jobs or buy a new house. Unlike Walsh, the kids hit their homework out of the park.
“Everyone makes mistakes sometimes”.
Others opted for positive visual imagery, drawing images like Blair kicking a game-winning field goal at next year’s Super Bowl.
The restaurant tweeted an offer for the “Blair Walsh Special”, a pizza that only has toppings on the left side.
Afterwards, Allen took to Twitter, calling the game one of the “most memorable” that he has ever called.
“These kids really made a difference in my life so I thought I’d come and help make their day, ” Walsh said.
Walsh read all the letters the kids wrote him, and he signed autographs for them all.
“This is really important”, Walsh said.
“I felt sad for him, but now I feel better”, Sciara said.
Walsh high-fives a young fan.
