Oculus Rift VR headset pre-orders open
Since 2012 we have been waiting for the official release of the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset and we are finally one step closer to its release. Not only will they receive the Oculus itself, but the bundled games promised to pre-orders (Lucky’s Tale and EVE: Valkyrie) will be included with it.
Pre-orders began Wednesday morning for the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset. While they barely missed the target pre-order date, they seem to be on track to make good on their promise to ship the headsets in early 2016.
As a small token of our appreciation for your support, all Kickstarter backers who pledged for a Rift development kit will get a free Kickstarter Edition Oculus Rift!
Well not anymore! Buying an Oculus Rift headset will cost you a cool $599, according to the preorder website, and the devices are set to ship in March of this year. However, Kickstarter backers who got the original device will also be getting the consumer device for free. Also, take a look around the internet and you’ll find reports that companies like Dell will be offering bundles that include the Rift and a PC.
This morning Oculus Rift pre-orders went live on the company’s site.
Owners of the Oculus Rift DK2 headset will be able to register their interest in the testing program here.
Surprisingly absent from the blog post was the price of the Rift.
The Oculus Remote features a trackpad and a few buttons to help you navigate VR experiences and 360 videos, browse the Oculus store and play games.
