Simpsons creator opens talks over a new Netflix series
The deal isn’t expecting to pull Groening away from The Simpsons; he’ll continue to be showrunner for the legendary series, now in its 27th season on FOX.
The title and premise of the show are being kept under wraps at this time, but according to Variety, the series could receive a two-season pick-up. We don’t know what it’ll be called, or who’ll star in it, or what it’ll be about, or when it’ll hit Netflix. They introduced six episodes of a new adult cartoon, F Is For Family, last fall, and now they’ll get to work with Groening.
No further details as yet, but it’s definitely an exciting potential collaboration given Groening’s pedigree and Netflix’s previous investment in the similarly irreverent animation BoJack Horseman.
With such a long-running show, keeping the series fresh is a real challenge, but we compiled a list of the 10 best more recent episodes of The Simpsons.
Groening’s Futurama was nowhere near as long-lived as The Simpsons, but managed the neat trick of coming back from the dead.
