My ‘bromance’ with Ted Cruz is probably over

The gloves came off when Ted Cruz accused Donald Trump of having “New York values” at Thursday night’s Republican debate in SC.

“When the World Trade Centre came down, I saw something that no place on Earth could have handled more beautifully, more humanely than NY”, he told the debate’s audience.

“His hit on NY was disgraceful, frankly”, Trump said on MSNBC.

Cruz’s comments also raised concerns by some because, historically, saying something is “too New York” has sometimes been code for “too Jewish”.

The New York Daily News’ cover Friday had a succinct reply to Sen.

The constitutional issue at question is the requirement that a president be a “natural born” citizen.

One of the Christian lobbyists – who had recently clashed with Josh on national television – accuses the White House staff of employing a “New York sense of humor” and thinking they’re “so much smarter” than everyone else.

Trump says: “There’s a big question mark on your head and you can’t do that to the party”.

“You know, I think most people know exactly what NY values are”, Cruz said.

“New York is a great place“.

Cruz’ comments drew sharp retorts for being insulting, divisive and hypocritical from New Yorkers including Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, Mayor Bill de Blasio and Rep. Peter King (R-Seaford). I may have thought Trump had an off night-his attempt to smear Ted Cruz with a “birther” theory was embarrassing-but his supporters are undaunted.

Cuomo suggested Cruz has a better opinion of NY when he needs campaign money from Wall Street.

During the Fox Business Network debate, Cruz said Trump was desperate by claiming that his ties to Canada could disqualify him from the presidency.

“In one 30 second sound bite, the man offended gays, he was offensive to women, he offended 18 million New Yorkers”, Cuomo said.

Cruz’s campaign stood by the remarks after the debate.

At Thursday’s debate, Trump also held up New Yorkers’ response to 9/11, which led to a rare moment of agreement with Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, herself a former senator from NY, as she tweeted support for the state.

CRUZ: What – what – you’re from NY?

Cruz minutes ago issued an “apology” that looks more like it it came from today’s cover of the NY Post than from Emily Post.

“Ted Cruz insulted the people of NY and by the way (it was) blatantly hypocritical on his part”, he said on CNN.
