John And Lisa Robinson Of Tennessee Say They Won Powerball Jackpot
The first victor showed up early Thursday to claim her $1 million prize – Linda Windey, who works in Walton, Ky. Tennessee officials did not immediately say which of the three Munford stores offering Powerball tickets produced the victor. Two other winning tickets were sold in Florida and Tennessee.
Angel told lottery officials that numerous group were always helping other people and that she’s thrilled this happened to them.
“I said, ‘Well, I’ll believe it when the news comes on in the morning and they say ‘Hey there’s a victor been in Munford, ‘” he recalled.
There were signs the Robinsons know at least some of the risks. While on air, Lisa Robinson called a co-worker to say she wouldn’t be coming to work that morning.
“Who will be coming out of the woodwork?” The Idaho Lottery also makes a contribution to the overall Powerball, but Workman didn’t know how much.
John and Lisa Robinson told “Today” that their attorney advised them to go on national TV first as a way of controlling the story. In order for the victor to claim prize, they must show up to a California Lottery office with the original ticket.
“Nobody knew up until this point”, Lisa Robinson said. The couple is in their middle 50s. John Robinson, who works at a maintenance distribution center, told Today. The Today show averages about 5 million viewers a day. “I’m having a wonderful time here”.
It is not only about the final winners, but also about the lucky stores that sold those victor tickets.
He bought four tickets, one for each family member, then gave them to his wife and went to lie down after he got home. “I was running down the hallway screaming and crying”, she said.
But John said he wanted to wait until they knew their dream had come true for sure. “We want to enjoy a little bit of it but we want to invest it so our son and daughter will be okay”, John said.
NBC was somewhat skeptical of the Robinson’s claim because they had yet to report their win to the Tennessee lottery commission. Look it up, I bought in chino hills where I grew up! The chances of winning were 1 in 292.2 million, which meant Powerball players had a far greater chance of being struck by lightning or dying in an asteroid strike than winning the whole thing.
Once confirmed the couple is expected to get approximately $533 million if they choose the lump-sum payment, which works out to about $327.8 million after taxes.
