New Cleveland Browns coach wants to move on from Johnny Manziel

After being named the new head coach of the Cleveland Browns, Hue Jackson could look to bring a few former players from the Queen City up I-71. He also has head coaching experience, spending one season leading the Raiders.

Jackson, 50, will certainly have an uphill battle as he takes over a team that is regarded as one of the worst in the NFL.

“We got the right guy for the Cleveland Browns”, owner Jimmy Haslam said.

First, and most important: Did 142 different people text message Hue Jackson about joining the Browns as a coach, or are there just 142 total text messages from coaches that want to join the Browns?

While Jackson was in Cleveland while Manziel had his off the field issues and stunts, he probably heard enough about them, not to mention plenty in the organization are still sticking around. “That makes me feel a little better”.

It was an odd omission from Brown, especially since he and Scheiner have a history that dates back to working at the same D.C. law firm more than a decade ago.

Jackson said he is undecided on whether or not he will continue to call the plays on offensive, and did not say if he will keep any of the current coaches, but he is eager to get going on assembling his coaching staff.

While much of the emphasis after the game was on the Bengals’ eight-game playoff losing streak or the team’s string of seven consecutive wild-card round defeats, Jackson performed wonders with his quarterbacks.

The team conducted a second interview with Jackson on Tuesday after he first met with Cleveland’s search committee Sunday.

“Hopefully, the third time’s the charm”, Haslam said, referring to his unsuccessful hires of Chudzinski and Pettine.

Does Hue Jackson’s hiring spell the end of Johnny Manziel in Cleveland? “He is smart. He is tough”. He’s confident. He is competitive. Jackson has experience as a head coach, knows the AFC North and has fixed quarterb… He’s got a great offensive mind.

When he arrived at the team’s facility, Jackson was greeted in the lobby by team employees, who applauded his entrance. “Eventually everybody’s going to be doing what we’re doing”. That’s what we’re interested in doing.

“We expect to win every game we play”.

Jackson was sacked after one season in Oakland in 2011, and that failure pushed him to find another chance.

Jackson sounded open to the Browns using the second pick of the draft on a quarterback, possibly Jared Goff of California.

Whether it’s a fact that has been as publicized as his recent praise or somewhat downplayed, Jackson’s aforementioned approach has been successful- both with teams and individuals- throughout his National Football League cocahing career.

The top candidates appear to be ex-Philadelphia coach Chip Kelly, ex-New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin and Tampa Bay offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter. He said his meetings with the Browns were fruitful. He was taken to an outside hospital and pronounced dead about 1:30 a.m., the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said. Jackson also was set to interview with the Giants on Thursday.

It’s possible that those who will lead the Browns from dysfunction to relevance are Jackson, DePodesta, Brown and Haslam. Manziel has been a major distraction during two drama-filled seasons with the Browns.

If Hue Jackson can finally make a victor out of the Cleveland Browns, then he will be considered a legend. “So I understood where they had been and where they’re trying to go, and I like challenges”.
