TNT plans special Martin Luther King Jr. Day pregame show

One of the major highlights is the Open House tour of the King Birth Home that is conducted throughout the entire day.

In Raleigh, state employees honored King at the First Baptist Church on North Salisbury Street.

In a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a wreath-placing ceremony will take place Sunday in Alexandria.

Students from Watkins Elementary School in Washington, D.C. will present their annual reading of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech Friday. Memorial Park, 2200 Martin Luther King Jr. Many opportunities to serve our communities can be found at CaliforniaVolunteers.org.

Demonstrators included members of Don’t Shoot Portland, Right to Dream and other social justice groups and individuals who “work in our communities to engage and resist legalized oppression”, organizers said on Facebook.

Martin Luther King Day will be observed on Monday. They want city leaders to close offices in honor of the holiday.

“It’s a joyous time, we really try to keep this as a celebration…” BROWN JR., Governor of the State of California, do hereby proclaim January 15th 2016, as “Dr. Martin Luther King Jr”.

Keynote speakers include Bill Such, the former director of the Jesus Center, and Sheik Abdul Haq, Imam of the Chico Islamic Center.

“I think it’s important because it signals to the world, primarily to Luzerne County and the Commonwealth, but to the world, that we acknowledge Martin Luther King’s accomplishments”, said Guerline Laurore with the Wilkes-Barre NAACP.
