Celine Dion Cancels Las Vegas Concerts Following Death of Husband, Rene Angelil
Charice Pempengco sent her sympathies to Celine Dion and her family over the death of René Angélil. During an interview in August, the soulful singer revealed that she’d chose to take the stage at Caesars Palace again, because “my biggest job is to tell my husband, we’re fine”.
As previously reported, Angelil died after a long battle with throat cancer, he served as Dion’s manager and was 73 years old. After managing groups in Canada, he was approached to manage Celine Dion by her parents when she was aged 12.
Celine Dion is mourning the death of her husband Rene Angelil, who died Thursday after a long battle with cancer. Her official site added that “more details will be provided at a later time”.
An official announcement confirmed that she’s not scheduled to resume her residency until February 23.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted his condolences to Celine Dion, their children, friends and “loved ones of Rene Angelil on his passing” while Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard called Angelil “engaged, passionate, talented and courageous”. In 1991, they became secretly engaged, and got married in December 17, 1994 held at Montréal’s Notre-Dame Basilica. Sometimes he just wants me to enter into a different place with him.
We can’t imagine what Celine Dion is going through right now. They have three sons.
Angelil is survived by Dion, their three children René-Charles, 14, 5-year old twins Nelson and Eddy, and his adult children from a previous relationship: Anne-Marie, Patrick and Jean-Pierre.
