Annual concert and Mass to honor Martin Luther King Jr
The Archdiocese of Washington is holding its annual concert and Mass in honor of the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.
The City of Brotherly Love is home to one of the largest MLK Day events in the country, the Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service celebration will be held from 9 a.m.to noon Monday at the Agana Shopping Center.
Dr Martin Luther King was an American Baptist minister, activist and leader in the African-American Civil Rights movement. Day and a number of offices will be closed.
Metro-North Railroad says that on MLK Day, Monday, January 18, it will be operating on a Saturday Schedule, with additional trains in the morning and night. Post offices will be closed and there will be no mail delivery.
Federal, state, county and municipal offices will be closed as will public schools, colleges and universities.
WHERE: The march will begin at the Loudoun County Courthouse, located on 18 E Market St, and end at Douglass High School, located on 407 E Market St.
Restaurants: Expect most chain restaurants to be open and operating with normal hours, though call ahead to check. Expect to find popular chain restaurants open on Martin Luther King Day including Applebee’s, Denny’s, Boston Market, Olive Garden, Cracker Barrel, Golden Corral, and TGI Fridays.
A number of events and volunteer activities are planned for not only Monday, but throughout the entire weekend.
