OR hires former MI head coach Brady Hoke as defensive coordinator
Hoke’s last stint as a defensive coordinator was in 1982 at Yorktown High School in Indiana.
Brady Hoke, the former MI head coach, has been named as the defensive coordinator for OR per Mark Helfrich and the official OR site. MI twice ranked among the top 20 teams in scoring defense nationally and ranked 17th or better in total defense in three of his four years in Ann Arbor. Since being let go from MI in 2014, Hoke’s made noise that he wanted to return to coaching. “He’s passionate, knowledgeable and tough, and has an outstanding track record of success from a defensive standpoint”.
Hoke had moved to North Carolina last summer, despite building a house in MI during his tenure, a house he sold during his year away.
The Ducks also allowed a whopping 37.5 points per game, which ranked No. 116 overall.
Hooe replaces Don Pellum, who was demoted from defensive coordinator to linebackers coach following the Ducks’ loss to TCU in the Alamo Bowl. He was the Maxwell Football Club national coach of the year in 2011.
Well, Hoke has a new gig as of Saturday, and it’s with another one of college football’s premier programs.
