Dion’s brother, 59, dies
Celine Dion’s brother has died of cancer just two days after she lost her husband to the disease, her representative told Associated Press.
Canadian singer Celine Dion, whose husband died earlier this week, is facing another family crisis with a brother on the verge of death, a Montreal newspaper has reported.
“His last days were in the wonderful care of the doctors and personnel at Maison Adhémar-Dion, a palliative care center in Terrebonne Québec”, the statement read.
Dion’s husband, René Angélil, died on January 14 at age 73 after battling throat cancer.
Daniel will be honored at a religious funeral at St-Simon-et-Jude, in Charlemagne Quebec, where the family was raised. “My condolences to @CelineDion, and to the children, friends and loved ones of Rene Angelil on his passing”, Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau tweeted.
In his native Montreal, flags were flying at half-staff in honour of Angelil, praised by the city’s mayor as a man who ” never forgot his roots”.
Dion has not made any recent comments on the site about her brother.
The artist’s former rep had several attacks of cancer, including a throat tumor 20 years ago that reappeared in 2014, after which he retired from being his wife’s agent.
