Cruz supporters boo Trump at conservative gathering

He’s now tightened the space between him and Cruz in Iowa.

There was no lack of fireworks in the Republican debates Thursday with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie arguing with Florida Sen.

During the GOP debate, Cruz got into hot water for suggesting Trump had NY values.

“And we rebuilt downtown Manhattan, and everybody in the world watched and everybody in the world loved NY and loved New Yorkers”.

In a radio interview, Cuomo added, “If he had any class, he would apologize to the people of NY – not that I believe they need it or they want it”. Charlie Condon, the former attorney general of SC, outlined how they would focus on what opponents see as Mr Trump’s socially liberal streak. “I apologize to the millions of New Yorkers who have been let down by the liberal politicians in that state”. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in a series of tweets on Saturday.

The New York Times further reported that Cruz described Trump as having a “lot of nervous energy”.

Cruz was born with dual American and Canadian citizenship.

Cruz then reportedly said Trump’s behavior wouldn’t be appropriate for a “commander in chief”. But two weeks ago, Trump started questioning Cruz’s eligibility to be president on a daily basis, and their detente melted away.

Asked by reporters whether he wanted to apologize for saying this week that Donald Trump, his main 2016 rival, “embodies NY values”, Cruz turned the tables, laying out a three-minute riff on things for which he would rather apologize.

Cruz has tried to downplay his error of omission, saying during Thursday night’s debate it was a paperwork error and the loan had been disclosed in a filing to Congress.

Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio have rallied around Trump’s defense of the city. “Throughout our nation’s history, NY has been the gateway to opportunity and the driver of the American Dream – both for people born here, and those born on other shores who come here to achieve that magnificent Dream”.

From a certain point of view, Cruz’s attacks can be considered at least weird, since he is well known for praising Donald Trump for months, before the race for the GOP nomination got tighter. I may have thought Trump had an off night-his attempt to smear Ted Cruz with a “birther” theory was embarrassing-but his supporters are undaunted.

“Excuse me, excuse me”, Trump said nervously, as the audience continued to boo.
