New details released from Patriots DE Chandler Jones’s medical emergency
A shirtless Chandler Jones got down on his knees behind the Foxborough police station Sunday morning and appeared to be “actively praying or worshipping” as officers approached him, according to newly released police documents. The Boston Herald reported Tuesday evening Jones was rushed to the hospital after he showed up to the Foxboro Police Station for an undisclosed medical emergency. Previous reports were that the Patriot overdoesd on pills at Gonk’s home but now it has been reported that synthetic marijuana was what made Chandler Jones so ill.
SportsCenter 5 contributor Chris Gasper, of the Boston Globe, reported that Jones’ reaction to the drug is what contributed to Jones being admitted to the hospital on Sunday.
Jones, who ranked fifth in the league with 12 1/2 sacks, was hospitalized Sunday under mysterious circumstances.
“Like I said, I want to apologize to all the fans and everyone I support, but this weekend is probably going to be – I’m focusing on having probably the biggest game of my life and try just to clear this”.
Even if all his weapons are at his disposal, Brady could have trouble evading Kansas City’s pass rush as New England looks to advance to its fifth straight AFC championship game and snap the Chiefs’ 11-game winning streak in Saturday’s divisional playoff game in Foxborough. Tight end Rob Gronkowski was limited in practice Wednesday because of a knee issue and missed practice altogether on Thursday, with the team announcing he was dealing with back problems as well.
Jones’ teammates declined to comment about his situation except to say they are concerned about his health.
Still, there was a thought that coach Bill Belichick might keep Jones on the bench to start the game. I could just Xerox you a copy of the game plan and you can send it over to Kansas City.
Last season at Kansas City, when quarterback Tom Brady was 14 of 23 with two interceptions, Gronkowski had two catches for 31 yards.
Belichick refused to answer any further questions about Jones.
“We’ll find out on Saturday”, the coach told reporters Thursday. “Might be easier for all of us”. “I don’t think that’ll ever change”. “I knew I could get out there and compete with the boys”.
Jones has not been made available to the media this week.
