Celine Dion’s Husband Rene Angelil Dies
Celine Dion has canceled her shows at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas in the wake of husband Rene Angelil’s death.
The Clark County Office of Coroner/Medical Examiner also said in a statement to People, “Mr. Angelil, 73, died of throat cancer at his home in Henderson while under the care of a physician”. He had also struggled with heart problems after an arterial blockage in 2009.
Dion took two career breaks to care for Rene after he was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2000.
Following the death of her husband René Angélil on Thursday, global superstar Celine Dion has cancelled a few of her Las Vegas shows.
A Montreal native, Angelil had a career as a Canadian pop singer in the 1960s before turning to managing.
In 1980, Celine’s mother sent him an audio tape of her daughter, then 12 years of age. To Dion and her sons, Pempengco told them to stay strong. “Throughout the years, we learned to know him, to appreciate him and especially, to love him”, Couillard said in a statement.
Angelil and Dion have twin boys, Eddy and Nelson, 5. “Thank U for Celine + for giving her my songs Thank U for everything + I’m hoping there r casinos in Heaven”.
An official announcement confirmed that she’s not scheduled to resume her residency until February 23. “I understand. Talk to me about it, ‘” pausing before adding: “And Rene says to me, ‘I want to die in your arms.’ OK, fine, I’ll be there, you’ll die in my arms”. He held that position until June 2014, when he resigned because of his health.
Born and raised in Montreal, Rene went into the artist management business and became Celine’s manager.
