Chipotle closing all stores for company-wide meeting
Burrito fans won’t be able to get their fix at Chipotle for one day next month.
Chris Arnold, the company’s spokesman, announced the meeting in an email and said it would involve all staff.
In order to regain consumer confidence, the company announced Wednesday at an investment conference in Orlando, Florida, it would be launching a marketing push in February that would include “inviting customers back” with direct mail offers.
In August, 64 Chipotle customers in Minnesota were infected with Salmonella, which is commonly spread through food contaminated with feces.
Chipotle sales and stocks have been battered since an E. coli outbreak sickened more than 50 people in nine states in October and November.

With regard to the massive food safety issues, the brand has drawn a plan to take the situation under control.
Chipotle also said in the filing that it received a federal grand jury subpoena as part of a criminal investigation tied to a norovirus outbreak this summer at a restaurant in Simi Valley, California.

Chipotle shares declined 30 percent in December, the restaurant said in a filing last week. Thus, Chipotle has rolled out new sanitation procedures in its restaurants as a measure to start additional food safety training for all its restaurant employees. Almost three months have passed since Chipotle’s initial outbreak shut down locations in OR and Washington. Chipotle has said that outbreak and another in Boston that affected at least 136 customers in December were caused by sick employees who ignored company polices that prohibited them from working.
