Cruz, Trump exchange shots in escalation between GOP front-runners
When Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz sneered at what he called Donald Trump’s “New York values” in their party’s latest debate, some New Yorkers took it personally.
Cruz dismissed the controversy as a “paperwork error” during Thursday’s GOP presidential debate, implying that the first Times report was attacking him unfairly to bring down his presidential campaign. Cruz had given a backhanded apology not for his comments, but to New Yorkers who were harmed by liberal politicians.
Trump has been the leading voice questioning Cruz’s Canadian birth – Cruz was ready. But everyone understands that the values in New York City are socially liberal or pro-abortion or pro-gay marriage, focused around money and the media.
Senator Ted Cruz has since apologized to the whole state of NY for his rude and offensive words.
“Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton and Andrew Cuomo and Bill de Blasio have all demanded an apology, and I am happy to apologize”, Cruz began.
An annoyed Cruz said at one point during the debate: “I’ve spent my entire life defending the Constitution before the U.S. Supreme Court. I find it very ironic that Ted Cruz went running to Goldman Sachs when he needed a big loan”, he said, referring to headlines about loans previously undisclosed by Cruz that coincided with his 2012 Senate campaign.
With Cruz nipping at his heels, Trump ventured into more traditional political territory on Friday. “I don’t”, Bartiromo said.
Is hypocrisy a “New York value”? “You think those percentages are just going to dissipate”.
The widower wants Cruz to apologize not only to New Yorkers, but Americans in general.
Out of the kindness of his heart, Trump just thinks his good friend Cruz should try to get a definitive answer now so the Democrats don’t use it against him if, heaven forbid, he should get the nomination.
That all sounds pretty much like what Ted Cruz was saying about “New York values” being at odds with conservative ones.
“I, and some of the other widows, would love to give him a tour and talk to him about how NY came together and America came together”, he told ABC News.
“We rebuilt downtown Manhattan, and everybody in the world watched, and everybody in the world loved NY and loved New Yorkers”.
The crowd in SC booed loudly as he made it, and he admitted he was only doing it because Cruz’s poll numbers were improving.
Speaking to reporters, Cruz said “Donald’s record does not match what he says as a candidate”.
