‘I made a pretty stupid mistake,’ Chandler Jones says
The Boston Globe reported Jones had a bad reaction to synthetic marijuana. In his report, officer David Fosaldo said he saw an individual with a muscular build, over six feet tall, and long arms go through the cruiser lot towards the building’s back entrance for police in a hurried fashion. After being evaluated by police, he was transported by ambulance to Norwood Hospital, where he was admitted and released later on Sunday.
The Patriots believe Gronkowski will play in Saturday’s divisional-round playoff game against the visiting Kansas City Chiefs, but will be a game-time decision. “Right now, my main focus is becoming the best player I can be and helping the team and focusing on Kansas City”, he said.
“I mean, are there any more questions about the Chiefs here?” the coach said before getting a question about Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce.
Question: Did you feel the need to apologize to your teammates?
“I want to start off by saying I made a pretty stupid mistake this weekend”, Jones said Thursday. I can just Xerox you a copy of the game plan, you can send it over to Kansas City. I know it sounds competitive and it sounds like I’m repeating myself. Standing at his locker in a Patriots sweatshirt, he said he was trying to focus on the divisional playoff game and “be the best No. 95 I can be”.
When asked he if was scared for his life, Jones responded, “I understand your question, I do”.
New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick coach said Thursday his primary concern is Jones’ health. I truly understand it. I want to apologize to all the fans. This weekend, I’m focusing on having probably the biggest game of my life to try to clear this.
“Beyond that, Chandler has spoken publicly about that situation now, and he said he did something really stupid, apologized, acted contrite, and I think I’m going to leave it at that”.
According to Foscaldo, Jones then “abruptly released his hands, and he started to move slowly to the ground… this same movement/motion was repeated at least twice”. “That might be easier for all of us”. “Mr. Jones did not resist, nor was he ever argumentative or confrontational”.
