Chelsea and West Brom charged by FA
Chelsea made a solitary change from the fractious draw with West Brom, with Oscar replaced by Nemanja Matic, while Everton made three changes following the draw at Manchester City.
Cesar Azpilicueta’s opener and a Gareth McAuley own goal gave the Blues the lead in each half on Wednesday, but Craig Gardner equalised in the 33rd minute before James McClean struck four minutes from the end to ensure the visitors a share of the points.
Hiddink has continued to state Champions League qualification is the club’s goal as long as it remains mathematically possible, but the interim coach knows his team’s chances are running out if they keep dropping points. Chelsea are unbeaten in their last 20 home games against Everton, and Roberto Martinez has never managed to win there in his time as a manager.
Chelsea have a number of players on the sidelines now, which is a contributing factor to them being linked with a host of new faces this month.
That first half of the West Brom game was genuinely one of the most infuriating halves of football I have ever seen Chelsea play. I think it was a big moment.
“The second came after a free-kick, we tried to head it clear, the ball touched our player and the shot went in the corner again”.
It would take more than £20m to encourage Peace to sell in January – a window he dislikes doing business in – but Chelsea have the funds to launch such a bid and are in desperate need of back-up for Diego Costa and Loic Remy.
Following two seasons saw the Belgian loaned out to West Brom and Everton where he impressed massively.
“Why do we pay these chelsea players they r useless”. If you have to push the players it’s hard to survive in the Premier League. But every now and then if you have to control them it is better still.
It was a substitution that seemed to send a surge of extra energy through Chelsea and, with Kenedy racing forward, there was controversy after Claudio Yacob tripped Costa off the ball to provoke further outrage from the Chelsea forward.
After only four goals in his first 21 games of the season, Costa has come to life in the wake of Jose Mourinho’s departure as manager – doubling that tally in his past four appearances.
“That’s my concern, a bit, that we create and we are not finishing it totally off”.
