Rory Feek Has ‘No Desire’ to Perform in Life After Joey
“Rory wrote that in the time since Joey was diagnosed (October 2015), Julie has spent a significant amount of time with the family, traveling back and forth between in and her home in Washington, “… not waiting for someone we love to die.
Joey + Rory most recently shared an uplifting message about the couple’s endeavor to shop for daughter Indiana’s winter clothes, and the child was photographed cheerfully playing with her mother in a picture widely shared across social media.
Judging by this photo, I think it’s safe to say Joey and Indiana’s mommy/daughter moment was magical. They have been spending time in Joey Feek’s hometown, visiting with family, friends and other loved ones, and in early November, Rory Feek revealed that his wife had entered home hospice care.
Julie Zamboldi first met the couple at a music festival eight years ago, and over time she has become their biggest fan, and eventually came to work for them, running their fan club. Currently, the Grammy nominees are living out what are likely to be their final days together, as Joey battles stage 4 cervical cancer. “But God only knows where we will be in a month”, he said. “And so at the Indianapolis airport this evening, a plane will take off and Saint Jules (as Joey’s daddy calls her) won’t be on it. Instead, she will be be with her best friend”, Rory wrote.
“As her lips quivered and she tried to catch her breath, the tears streamed down her cheeks and Joey said, ‘I don’t think I will ever see her again'”.
On Saturday (Jan. 16), Zamboldi was supposed to leave the Feeks and head back to OR – but when Joey Feek realized, as Rory Feek recounts, that she may never see her best friend again, Zamboldi’s plans changed. “Joey was still going through chemo and radiation as we recorded them, so it was hard on her. But she just kept smiling and pushed through it because this project is so important to her”. “But Joey Feek soon found a good use for it – giving rides to her daughter”. She was inconsolable. I put my arms around her and asked what was wrong. “I can tell you though … win or lose, together or separated by fate …”
“Joey and I are Julie’s biggest fans”.
