Celine Dion Cancels Las Vegas Concerts Following Husband’s Death
Dion released a statement on her website announcing the cancellation. He was 73. Dion and Angélil had been married since 1994. After managing groups in Canada, he was approached to manage Dion by her parents when she was aged 12.
In that same interview, she admitted that her husband’s dying wish was to pass on while wrapped in his wife’s arms. Dion invited Charice to sing a duet with her at Madison Square Garden on her Taking Chances Tour in 2008. Dion has canceled two shows at Caesars Palace this weekend and is scheduled to return on February 23.
One of the music industry’s most enduring couples, Rene Angelil and Celine Dion were struck by tragedy yesterday when he died from throat cancer.
Mr Angelil was born in Montreal in 1942.
Caesars Palace paid tribute to Angelil with a marquee that said: “We will miss you friend”.
‘All of us at AEG and at Caesars Palace have Celine and her children in our thoughts and prayers’.
He was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1999 (Dion put aside her career then as well) and had surgery in December 2013 that removed part of his tongue and limited his speech.
The Nevada Supreme Court in 2008 overturned the charges against Sung and her husband.
