Toddler missing out of Jacksonville
A statewide Amber Alert was issued Friday morning for a 1-year-old boy missing in Jacksonville, Fla.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the mother’s boyfriend was with the toddler at Ravenwood Apartments when the boyfriend ran to his apartment and his vehicle was stolen with Lonzie inside. He has blond hair and blue eyes and weighs about 20 pounds. He said several scenarios are being considered but abduction is the primary focus.
The sheriff’s office said on its official Twitter account that the boy was wearing only a diaper when he was taken.
The distinctive-looking orange and black two-door auto was recovered, with the keys inside, 20 minutes later and just blocks from the apartment, but the child remains missing, cops said at a noontime press conference.
They also tweeted that they’ve contacted the child’s father in nearby Baker County and he does not have the child.
The 5-year-old girl exited the vehicle to go upstairs to tell the boyfriend she was scared and when the boyfriend went back outside, he saw someone driving off in his auto, authorities said, according to CBS affiliate WJAX-TV. Investigators are asking area businesses to check surveillance videos for any possible clues.
Anyone with information or who finds the child is asked to call 911.
