Vikings kicker visits elementary school children
Dear Blair Walsh: You mised that kick and my daddy lost lots of money.
First-graders at Northpoint Elementary wrote supportive letters to Walsh, as part of an assignment on empathy.
GREENE: The students sent Walsh letters to cheer him up.
Minnesota Vikings kicker Blair Walsh (3) reacts after missing a field goal during the second half of an NFL wild-card football game against the Seattle Seahawks, Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, in Minneapolis.
Walsh appreciated the letters so much that he visited Offerdahl’s class Thursday to thank the kids in person for their kindness.
“These kids really made a difference in my life, so I’m glad I can come in here and brighten their day”, Walsh said.
“You are the best and maybe you need to practice”.
“Dear Blair Walsh”, wrote a little girl named Sophia according to the Star Tribune, “I know that it can be hard to get through things that make you sad, but you have to try and try again”.
When those kind words reached Walsh, he decided to make a special trip to thank the kids himself.
