Body found near Ephraim is that of missing doctor
According to authorities, a. 22 caliber gun was found near his body.
Around 50 of Whiteside’s past and present employees joined the search in Ephraim.
Dr. Ray George, a colleague of Whiteside’s, said he’s becoming increasingly anxious, and that the disappearance is out of character.
The group informed the the Sheriff’s Office of the discovery about 12:20 p.m., and investigators closed off the area. Whiteside, was vacationing in Ephraim, where his family owns a condominium and boat.
The 63-year-old Fox Cities physician went missing June 29 after an argument with his wife, Kathi.
Investigators haven’t disclosed what Whiteside and his wife were arguing about or why she returned to Grand Chute several hours later – leaving him without a vehicle – when he was expected to be at work the next morning.
A press conference is scheduled for 1:00 Thursday afternoon.
Whiteside treated patients at Fox Valley Pulmonary Medicine.
The body has yet to be positively identified, but a release issued by the sheriff’s office said the remains are believed to be Whiteside based on clothing and personal property.
McCarty refused to say how Whiteside died but said the public is not in danger.
She reported him missing two days later.
WBAY-TV learned that Whiteside’s wife did not grant permission for deputies to search their Grand Chute home, and said all future communication with the family would have to go through an attorney.
Earlier this week Mrs. Whiteside refused to let police search the family home without having a warrant, and hired an attorney.
