Two Geneseo athletes, one former student found dead in home near university
A North Vancouver man in his twenties has been found dead in a house in upstate NY along with two others, officials have confirmed.
Geneseo police discovered the bodies shortly after 6 a.m. when they received a call saying that there may have been an incident at the address.
Here in B.C., Hutchinson had played junior hockey for the Surrey Eagles, Chilliwack Chiefs, Coquitlam Express, and Quesnel Millionaires. He was majoring in geography with a business studies minor.
No firearm was used but a knife was recovered at the scene, Szczesniak said during a press conference live-streamed by Democrat & Chronicle.
The house is near the campus of SUNY Geneseo.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of all involved”, it said.
The school postponed the men’s and women’s basketball games originally scheduled for Tuesday.
Hutchinson, 24, who played in Geneseo home games Friday and Saturday night, also was a volunteer firefighter.
Szczesniak said he believes this to be an isolated incident and that there is no danger to the community. “We’re awaiting release of additional information from Geneseo Police and will update you as soon as we are able”.
There is an active police investigation underway near campus on Wadsworth Street.
Livingston County Sheriff Tom Dougherty said his deputies along with state police, village police and university police were all gathered on Wadsworth Street.
The university also sent an alert to students advising them of the incident, and asking them to stay away from the scene.
