Heavy lake effect snow expected through Tuesday
The next chance for snow will be Friday evening, weather forecasters predict.
A Lake Effect Snow Warning is in effect for Oneida and Southern Herkimer counties for 1am Monday until 7pm Tuesday.
This model may be a little conservative with totals, and therefore some 5 to 6 inch amounts will be possible in some of our lakeshore counties. A Lake Effect Snow Advisory is in effect for Otsego from 5am Monday til 10 am Tuesday. In a couple of cases, namely in Kalamazoo and St. Joseph counties, the heavier snow will occasionally extend east of US-131.

Lake-effect snow is a common sight in the snowbelts downwind of the Great Lakes in late fall and winter. After a brief lull…lake effect snow showers are expected to develop and continue through Tuesday morning across the region. Winds will range from the west and northwest between 10-20 miles per hour, resulting in wind chills below zero starting Saturday night and lasting through Monday.
Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties could see between one to two inches of snow during the day and another two to four inches in the evening.
