Reid says Chiefs had headset problems at New England
“My hat’s off to the Patriots – what a great job they have done this year”, Reid said after New England’s 27-20 victory.
But New England responded with a 40-yard Stephen Gostkowski field goal and then defensively forced the Chiefs to punt from their own end zone, setting up a 32-yard Gostkowski field goal that gave New England a 27-13 lead with 10:20 remaining.
The Chiefs had multiple opportunities to pick off passes from Tom Brady that could have made a difference, and that’s what we’ve come to learn is the margin of error if you want to advance at this point in the playoffs.
“Every year is different, but there’s a foundation being built, and good things lie ahead”.
The stadium erupted in cheers of “Brady!” – just as it had four months ago when the four-time Super Bowl champion returned from his looming “Deflategate” suspension to play in the season opener.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid says his team experienced problems with their headsets during Saturday’s playoff loss in New England, though they worked fine in the crucial final minutes of the game.
The season was a ride, a wild one at that-full of ups and downs and adversity around each corner.
That right there was the news that the team was waiting for all week.
Andy Reid is not a master at managing the clock.
For Reid, this started with quarterback Alex Smith.
“You’ve got to be able to take advantage of that when it comes”, Smith said.
The clock management at the end of the game had National Football League media people saying there’s Andy Reid and his clock management again.
“I never felt we were out of it”, Reid said. They ended up running out of time. I’m proud of the family.
And, what do you know, that flaw ended up costing the Chiefs.
Tre’ Jackson is the only player the team listed as out for Saturday.
“Typical Kansas City game – a lot of turnovers on defense, no turnovers on offense, capitalized on opponents’ mistakes and didn’t make any”, Patriots coach Bill Belichick said of the Chiefs’ convincing victory.
They didn’t blink, they didn’t flinch, they didn’t cower.
