Today, technology doesn’t just replace jobs on the assembly line, but any job where work can be automated.
“I want to be clear about this”. That’s what makes me so hopeful about our future.
“The future we want, all of us want — opportunity and security for our families; a rising standard of living and a sustainable, peaceful planet for our kids — all that is within our reach. So I will continue to seek a vote and a debate on this question of how we should engage in the threat of ISIL”.

“We have to reject any politics that targets people because of their race or their religion. That’s bluster. That’s not serious”, Obama said. Americans have a choice to make in November, he said, and he spelled out the case for his side.

Even a handful of innovative digital projects out of the U.S. Digital Service, the General Services Administration’s 18F and the Presidential Innovation Fellows failed to get a shout out.
“The worldwide system we built after the World War Two is now struggling to keep pace with this new reality”, he said. And the president was calling us out.
The president also acknowledged that the divisions between the parties have grown wider in his seven years in office. Those are criminal justice reform, how we combat our heroin epidemic and dealing with the issue of college affordability.
The anti-Muslim rhetoric, he said, “betrays who we are as a country”. And the President announced one final, ambitious goal…to cure cancer. Obama said that American economic and foreign policy is stronger than described by “a bunch of folks right across the river” – a jab at Republican presidential candidates campaigning for the party’s nomination in the early voting state of Iowa.
I grew up watching the State of the Union addresses with my parents and always knew that it was something important.
