Tragic end to search for Karen Chetcuti
The body of a woman has been found in scrubland at a Victorian weir wall during a police hunt for missing woman Karen Chetcuti.
Ms Chetcuit was found off Croppers Creek Road near Myrtleford about 1.35pm.
The last confirmed sighting of Ms Chetcuti was at the Whorouly Hotel at 7.30pm on Tuesday and her burnt-out vehicle was found 20km away in Myrtleford on Thursday.
A 48-year-old Whorouly man was arrested on Sunday morning after an alleged police pursuit in the Melbourne suburb of Ringwood.
The woman’s next door neighbour – who another resident said had had a drink with Ms Chetcuti on the night she went missing – went to her house on Friday.
Police, along with SES crews including dive teams, have been searching the areas of Whorouly and Myrtleford trying to find any sign of Ms Chetcuti since her disappearance.
Residents in the tight-knit community are hoping she is found safe and well.
