Instead, streaming video rival Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) surprised with two awards for its series “Mozart in the Jungle“. Gael García Bernal won Best Performance in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy for his role as Rodrigo de Souza in Mozart in the Jungle. Jon Hamm won his second Globe for the final season of “Mad Men”.
And yet, buoyed by more respectable picks in recent years and a three-year hosting stint by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, the boozy Globes have been on the rise, even if their choices won’t directly affect who will get that coveted Oscar nomination. This category will remain a head-scratcher until the Oscar ceremony, that is, until the SAG Awards clear things up a bit more.
