Making a Murderer Subject Files Appeal
Governor of Wisconsin Scott Walker, 48, vowed the “Making A Murderer” subject would not be released from prison, despite the vast number of signatures on the petition.
Making a Murderer subject Steven Avery has filed an appeal of his murder conviction for the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach.
Manitowoc County Sheriff Robert Hermann says he hasn’t seen Avery’s appeal, which was filed Tuesday. Avery is now serving life in prison without the possibility of parole, while Brendan is serving a life in prison with the possibility of parole sentence.
It appears Avery realised self-representation would be a long shot, as he has now hired two new attorneys: Kathleen Zellner and Tricia Bushnell (who is the legal director of the Midwest Innocence Project).
However, Avery has now filed an appeal claiming authorities used an improper warrant and a juror was out to get him, in a letter riddled with spelling errors.
According to the appeal, the juror, identified in court documents as “C.W.”, made repeated comments that Avery was “f–ing guilty”.
Avery, 53, insists he didn’t kill Halbach, a 25-year-old freelance photographer. Sellen said that pursuant to Wis. Supreme Court Rule 22.40, he could not confirm, nor deny whether or not Aquino was under investigation.
“We are continuing to examine every aspect of Mr. Avery’s case and all of his legal options”. In a new interview with Nancy Grace, she said she believes Avery is guilty of killing Halbach and called him “a monster”, adding “Steven’s the one person I can’t trust”. It was during that lawsuit that Halbach went missing. At the moment, there are petitions demanding for his pardon, along with charged accomplice, Brendan Dassey, as there are allegations that the case was framed by the Manitowoc County. Dassey was arrested at the age of 16 in connection with the murder case, but his attorneys maintain that his confession was coerced by the police. She said in a statement that the defense has uncovered new evidence that will exonerate Avery – but she didn’t say what it was.
