Yesterday, NFL voters approved the Rams’ application to move to Los Angeles by a vote of 30-2.
The $1.86 billion Inglewood stadium project is backed by Rams owner Stan Kroenke. Haden said its current lease with the Coliseum Commission allows for only one National Football League team to use the arena, although it could be amended if the Chargers decide to move as well.
On Tuesday, the league’s owners voted to let the St. Louis Rams move to Los Angeles for the 2016 seasonand to build what’s supposed to be the NFL’s biggest stadium on the site of a one-time racetrack.
The Rams will likely play in the Los Angeles Coliseum until a proposed stadium in Inglewood is built in 2019.
By now, St. Louis has accepted that life without the Rams begins in 2016, and San Diego is figuring out that the Chargers might not be staying around much longer than that.
It’s a decision leaving St. Louis fans with mixed emotions; anger, sadness and most of all, betrayal. If the option expires, the Oakland Raiders will have a chance to become the second team in the greater Los Angeles area. It’s possible the team could remain in San Diego, but that would require reaching a deal for a new stadium that has proved elusive for years. “The Chargers have been approved to relocate to Los Angeles, at the Inglewood location, at any time in the next year. America, the world is a possibility for the Raider Nation”.
San Diego has made a proposal to the Chargers to keep the franchise in the city.

The Oakland Raiders agreed Tuesday to opt out of their joint plan with the Chargers.

When the Rams spent two days in Oxnard, California, last August for training camp, a widespread rumor claimed the Rams are interested in building a permanent base in Thousand Oaks, the upscale suburb 35 miles west of downtown Los Angeles.
“I felt like I won the lottery because they’re finally coming home where they really belong”, Olvera said with a laugh.
“Today isn’t about the past, it’s about the future – it’s about the opportunity that we have, San Diego and the Chargers, to work together as a team”, San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer said.
