Palestinian attacker stabs Israeli woman in West Bank
Shoham Ruvio, a spokeswoman for Jerusalem’s Shaarei Tzedek hospital, said the woman was five-months pregnant. The attacker is still being sought.
The assailant at a base near Nablus was Wissam Qasrawi, 21, from Mesilyeh village near the city of Jenin, in the northern West Bank, the Associated Press news agency quoted Palestinian officials as saying.
“The man is suspected of passing information to the Israelis. Palestinian workers have been instructed to leave (Gush Etzion) communities”, an army statement said.
In an interview with Army Radio, Hadassah Froman said Israel was “mishandling” the delicate fabric of its relations with the Palestinians, and needed to make a greater effort to distinguish between those Palestinians who support terrorism and those who want to live in peace.
The knife used in one of many recent Palestinian stabbing attacks against Israelis.
“If past is precedent, such separation, notably the allocation of some West Bank roads exclusively to settlers by diverting Palestinian traffic to secondary tortuous ones, would further radicalize Palestinians”, he added.
In the later attack, the Palestinian slipped into the Otniel settlement, broke into the woman’s home and killed her before fleeing the scene, the military said.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered his condolences to the family.
Maintaining the current situation stems from a fixed vision set during World War I by major countries at that time, which explains Israel’s keenness on expanding its settlements by all means over the past century.
“We will not rest until we settle accounts with the terrorist, wherever he is”, said Defence Minister Moshe Yaalon.
Palestinians claim the occupied lands were denominated to become part of the Palestinian state, according to the two-state solution.
It also said Palestinians who work in settlements in the southern West Bank were not allowed in on Monday. Most of the others died during violent demonstrations.
The last four months have seen near-daily Palestinian attacks that have killed 25 Israelis and an American student.
