White House Labels Rally Against Iran Deal “Pro-War Rally”
The main speaker at the demonstration, Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz, is one of several GOP candidates who have said that, as president, they would be ready to launch an immediate military strike on Iran.
But Cruz couldn’t get past those first few words before CODEPINK activists began interrupting him with shouts of “We want a peace president” and “We want diplomacy not war”. “If he will not speak their names, it is of no surprise that they have not been released”. At multiple points, shouting matches broke out between the sides, with some thrusting painted signs into one another’s faces and yelling about various issues.
What this actually is, whether Medea Benjamin and Code Pink are aware of it or not, is the Law of Merited Impossibility at work.
Joshua Farrar of Vermont also interrupted Cruz.
RUSH: And Cruz came back at her.
Cruz restored order out of what was soon becoming chaos when he invited a Code Pink spokeswoman to debate.
Cruz said his amendments will ensure that “no Iranian nuclear deal unless Iran recognizes Israel and frees American hostages”. “If this deal goes through three things will happen”.
The senator rehashed his previous criticisms of the deal-namely the danger of a nuclear Iran, the billions of dollars in lifted sanctions Iran could use to fund terrorists and the four American hostages left languishing in prison. Those billions of dollars will be used to fund jihadists who will murder Americans and murder Israelis who will murder Europeans. “Does that make any sense?”
Asked if he believes that, Cruz told TheBlaze “no”. “So one of the things you said is ‘if Iran is trying to get nuclear weapons.'”.
Cruz and other Republicans should say if they agree, Earnest said. Later, after Iran’s spent a chunk of its $100 billion windfall on expanding Shiite terror across the region and has finally gotten caught working on a nuke, we’ll be told that their behavior was not only inevitable but understandable and even just as a response to American imperialism.
Added Benjamin: “And what makes you think as Ted Cruz you know better than all these countries together?”
“Ma’am I did not interrupt you, so I would ask you to show me the same courtesy”, Cruz said, eliciting an apology from Benjamin.
US Secretary of State John Kerry mounted a furious counter-attack against critics of the Iran nuclear deal, telling sceptical legislators it would be fantasy to think the US could simply “bomb away” Tehran’s atomic know-how.
“Hold on a second – you want to yell and scream?”
“We are not going to relent until we bring home Americans who are unjustly detained in Iran”, Obama said.
“In the midst of this negotiation, the Ayatollah Khamenei led thousands of Iranians in chanting death to America while they burned American flags and Israeli flag”, Cruz continued to more applause.
He cited Washington Post journalist Jason Rezaian, Pastor Saeed Abedini, and former US Marine Amir Hekmati, maintaining that all of them “should be released”.
“We want Ted!” they chanted.
