Mexico investigating Guzman meeting, not actors involved

MEXICO CITY (AP) – Mexico’s government is moving Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman constantly from cell to cell inside the maximum security prison where he is being held, the same lockup the elusive drug lord escaped from through a tunnel six months ago.

The Oscar victor interviewed the Mexican crime boss previous year (15), months before El Chapo was recaptured in Mexico last week (08Jan16), for Rolling Stone magazine, and the article was published online over the weekend (09Jan16).

And his style didn’t go unnoticed.

A similar shirt – blue with paisleys – which Guzman wore in an accompanying video, is also sold by Barabas.

Media outlets from across the United States noted similar consumer trends. Another text from the drug lord reads: “How is the best and most intelligent woman in the world, who I admire a lot?” At one point, Guzman — who is reportedly married to former beauty queen Emma Coronel, and has had children with her and several other women — writes “My mother wants to meet you.

Still, one thing El Chapo has never been accused of is subtlety, and his textual seduction was no exception-though del Castillo appeared to be, at the very least, flattered by his affection. Vicente Zambada-Niebla pleaded guilty to intent to distribute multiple tons of cocaine and heroin in 2013, and his reported knowledge of Guzman’s role could make a prosecution there more likely.

In them the pair discuss meeting over tequila and champagne, with Guzman promising to “take care of you more than my own eyes” while the Mexican-American actress expresses her “eagerness to see you eye-to-eye”.

Mexican officials have said that contacts between Guzman’s lawyers and Penn and actress Kate del Castillo helped them track down the fugitive and they raided his hideout in rural Durango state a few days after their October 2 meeting.

Mexican daily Milenio late on Tuesday published alleged private messages between del Castillo and Guzman.

Guzman eventually made his way last week to the seaside city of Los Mochis in his native Sinaloa state, where he was captured Friday in a deadly military operation.

The kingpin asked his attorney to repeat the actor s name twice and the title of Penn s most recent movie.

Guzman left his mountain hideout because troops were circling him, but his hope of seeing her again also led him to the city, the officials said. While Department of Justice officials still seek to have Guzman sent to the USA for prosecution I have a suggestion for the Mexican Attorney General.

It’s safe to say El Chapo definitely isn’t a Penn fan now.

In the photographs, Penn, wearing dark glasses and a baseball cap, is shown arriving with del Castillo at an airport, then at a hotel, and greeting the men who apparently took them to a small airstrip, from which they flew to the jungle camp to meet Guzman.

Moves are afoot to extradite Guzman to the U.S. where he is wanted on charges including drug trafficking but this could take up to five years.

“I’ll tell you, I am more excited about you than the (movie) script”, Guzman wrote to Del Castillo.
