Ronda Rousey says she will face Holly Holm sometime in 2016
Jennifer Lawrence was the person she’d most like to hang out with, Rousey revealed, though she wouldn’t rule out a Rousey-Lawrence-Amy Schumer Taylor Swift-style squad.
Rousey said she hasn’t discussed specifics with UFC officials, but she does know she wants it to be before the end of the year.
Holm was recently booked for a UFC 197 showdown with Miesha Tate (17-5 MMA, 4-2 UFC) in what will be her first attempted title defense. Dana White previously said that Rousey needed time off and was out of a fight at UFC 200 on July 9 in Las Vegas.
In the span of two rounds at UFC 193, the formerly unheralded Holly Holm flipped the script on the mythology surrounding the unbeatable Ronda Rousey. “They haven’t told me an exact location or date or anything like that”.
Who would win a prospective Holm-Rousey rematch? “Rowdy’s” reign at the top of the women’s MMA world was ended with one swift kick by Holm that knocked out Rousey and dropped her from invincible to mere mortal.
Rousey will be busy during her break as she will film a remake of the movie Roadhouse as well as host Saturday Night Live.
Right now, it won’t be surprising if Rousey is not even thinking about how to return and avenge her loss.
Rousey’s latest comment on the next match follows her interview last month, when she said: “I need to come back”, adding: “I need to beat this chick”.
“The rematch makes a lot of sense”, White said in a press conference at the time, adding: “I think the rematch is what people would want to see”.
