Star Wars: 10 Spin-Off Movies We’d Like To See
“Star Wars is a belief system, it’s not just a story and it’s not just a movie, and it’s something I take very seriously”. “The Force Awakens” was nominated in the Film Editing, Original Score, Visual Effects, Sound Editing, and Sound Mixing categories.
While most of us are hungry for any additional content that was created for the film, we’re all really excited to see this.
If Maz had used the Force or something like it, as Corbould describes, that would leave the audience with a couple of extra questions about a film that already leaves us with some pretty big questions to chew on.
But beyond that, fans haven’t been given the vaguest clue about what these spin-off films will be. Yes, I would much rather someone else was directing Episode IV, and I’m deliberately keeping my expectations for the film low because of Trevorrow’s involvement. The news of a potential resurrection of Jabba was broke by Neal Scanlan and Chris Corbould, both of whom worked on the special effects for the franchise. Now that we know she was doing her part to defend the planet, we would have loved to have seen that.
In a recent interview, director J.J. Abrams revealed he already knows Rey’s backstory despite not revealing much in Episode VII (and not directing Episode VIII or Episode IX). Maybe, if Rey can get Luke Skywalker to come out of hiding, Maz will want to train to be a full-fledged Jedi herself.
In addition to the returning the cast, Benicio Del Toro has also been cast to play a role in the upcoming movie. The potential for an incredible reveal in Episodes VIII and IX is huge, especially since the character has been so well received by most fans (not counting those who follow the words of Darth Max Landis).
While Trevorrow wouldn’t confirm or deny any specific theory, he said it’s important that the mystery behind Rey’s identity fit not just into “Episode IX” or the sequel trilogy that “The Force Awakens” kicked off, but the “Star Wars” saga as a whole.
