Rescue Squad Member Dies After Answering Call Involving Daughter
A rescue squad member and public servant in New Jersey died of a heart attack after responding to a wreck that involved his 19-year-old daughter.
Danielson, 49, was a 35-year member of the Lakeland Ambulance Squad and had been called to the scene of the crash because of his daughter’s involvement, said his father, Eskil “Skip” Danielson, on Sunday.
Danielson was a three-time councilman in the borough.
He learned his daughter, Alycia, was the crash victim and helped the squad treat both her and the occupant of the other vehicle, said Andover Township Police Chief Eric Danielson, Scott’s brother.
Danielson is survived by his wife Tammy, and three children: son Aaron, 28, and daughters Amanda, 21, and Alycia, as well as his parents and brother. All who were hurt in the crash were taken to Newtown Medical Center for treatment. According to Eric Danielson, who is the Andover Township Police Chief and Scott’s brother, Scott had a massive heart attack and collapsed in the waiting room. He was airlifted to Morristown Medical Center about 4:30 p.m. but could not be saved and was pronounced dead at 8:30 p.m., authorities said. Once at Morristown, doctors planned to do a procedure on Captain Danielson’s heart but his condition was not stable enough.
Emergency squads were mourning the sudden death of Eskil Scott Danielson – known as Scott – a member of Lackland Emergency Squad and a member of the Andover Council. (Warren County) Police Department posted on its Facebook page.
Social media was also full of condolences and memories about Danielson.
‘Captain Danielson was an invaluable asset to this department and many other public safety agencies in Warren County. “He will be missed by many”.
A funeral service will be begin 10 a.m. Thursday at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High St., Hackettstown. Burial will be in Locust Hill Cemetery, 168 North Sussex St., Dover, N.J. “Skip” Danielson is former police chief of Byram, where he also served as mayor, and for many years headed the Sussex County emergency management office.
