Shots fired, one person seriously injured at Western Sydney police station
“A critical incident investigation has been launched following the death of a man during a confrontation with police at a north-west Sydney police station”, the statement read.
EMERGENCY services have been called to reports of a shooting at Quakers Hill Police Station in Sydney’s north west.
The man reportedly told police to shoot him before lunging at them in an apparent attempt at “suicide by cop”.
NSW Police have released a statement about the incident.
The man suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder and was critically injured.
Police have blocked off Lalor Road, and motorists are being turned around near the police station.
“As per standard protocols, that investigation will be overseen by the Professional Standards Command”.
NSW Police announced the operation around 10.50am on Tuesday, with a police spokeswoman telling The Huffington Post Australia the incident had occurred around 10.30am.
Paramedics entered the station but exited without a patient.
Witnesses said there was police tape on Lalor Rd and reported police, CareFlight and news helicopters.
A spokesman for NSW Ambulance confirmed ambulance staff had been tasked to Lalor Road at Quakers Hill, but referred further enquiries to NSW Police.
