Jermaine Gresham would give Packers depth at TE
According to Rand Getlin of NFL Network, Gresham will visit with the Green Bay Packers.
Add the Green Bay Packers to the list of teams interested in free agent tight end Jermaine Gresham.
In five seasons in Cincinnati Greshman, 27, has amassed 280 receptions for 2,722 yards and 24 touchdowns. “He’s a matchup problem in the red zone thanks to his 6’5” and 260-pound frame.
The Packers’ tight end depth chart now consists of veteran Andrew Quarless, who was arrested in Miami Beach, Fla., earlier this month in a handgun incident; second-year man Richard Rodgers; rookie sixth-round pick Kennard Backman; Justin Perillo, who spent time on the practice squad and the 53-man roster last year; and undrafted rookies Mitchell Henry and Harold Spears. Gresham’s health status remains unclear.
Sometimes putting on a new uniform is enough to motivate a talented athlete to prove his old team, as well as doubters, wrong.
As long as Gresham can stay focused and on the field, he can be one of the best under-the-radar signings this offseason. He’s also only missed six of a possible 80 regular season games, meaning that despite his recent back surgery – revealed while he was on a free agent trip to visit the Oakland Raiders – Gresham has proven quite durable during his NFL career.
