The Palestinians say it is rooted in frustrations over Israel’s almost 50-year occupation.

It said: “Recalling that settlements are illegal under worldwide law, constitute an obstacle to peace and threaten to make a two-state solution impossible, the European Union reiterates its strong opposition to Israel’s settlement policy and actions taken in this context, such as building the separation barrier beyond the 1967 line, demolitions and confiscation – including of EU-funded projects – evictions, forced transfers including of Bedouins, illegal outposts and restrictions of movement and access”. She was stabbed to death by a suspected Palestinian attacker in her home yesterday.
The injured woman is evacuated on Monday.
Since October 2015, at least 162 Palestinians and over two dozen Israelis have been killed amid tensions that rose after the Israeli regime imposed restrictions in August on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds.
Netanyahu promised that police would find the attacker and bring him to justice.
The US ambassador referred to the indictment of four Jewish extremists in various violent crimes against Palestinians, including the arson attack last July, which claimed a life of an 18-month old baby and his parents.

Most of the stabbings have occurred in public places, including checkpoints, junctions and entrances to Jerusalem’s Old City, and they have rarely been fatal. A number of them have attempted attacks with kitchen knives in what some analysts have described as virtual suicide missions.
“Nothing justifies the murder of a mother in front of her own children”, he said in a statement.

The statement had been expected to be passed without discussion but differences emerged over the weekend, notably on the consequences of an European Union decision to label products from Israeli settlements in the occupied territories as “Made in Israel”.
Meanwhile, Palestinian intelligence officers have arrested an employee of top negotiator and PLO secretary-general Saeb Erekat on accusations of “spying for Israel”, a security source said on Sunday.
“The ambassador’s comments, on a day when a mother of six is being buried and a pregnant woman is stabbed, are unacceptable and untrue”, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
