Bulls C Joakim Noah to have left shoulder surgery
The Bulls said in a news release that the shoulder dislocation was “reduced in the training room” Friday night and was evaluated at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush in Chicago, where it was determined that he will undergo surgery to stabilize his left shoulder. It’s the same shoulder Noah hurt on December 21, suffering what then was called a sprain against Brooklyn that cost him nine games. While his value was surely eroded by his slippage over the last two seasons, there might have been teams interested in rolling the dice, thinking that a change of scenery and a better system fit would help revive the quality of his play.
The timing here couldn’t be worse from Noah’s perspective, as he’s in the final year of a contract that pays him $13.4 million this season and he’s set to hit unrestricted free agency this summer. Hoiberg also noted that second-year big man Cameron Bairstow and rookie Cristiano Felicio will get an opportunity to see what they can do.
Center Pau Gasol has been hindered by a shoulder problem and did not make the trip to Philadelphia for Thursday’s game….
Dallas used a 15-2 run in the third quarter to catch up to the Bulls, and clutch 3-point shooting from Deron Williams and Dirk Nowitzki, along with stifling defense, in the fourth quarter carried the Mavericks to an 83-77 victory Friday night.
The Chicago Bulls has always been a competitive team.
His recovery time is estimated at four to six months.
Whether the Bulls will be as well depends, considering that Noah, while not a starters, was one of the Bulls’ best post defenders and rebounders.
Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah isn’t happy.
Whatever the injury’s technical title, it still represents a significant step back for Noah.
First and foremost that’s Bobby Portis, who showed up in a big way when Noah was out of the lineup the first time.
Not only could players like Gasol and Taj Gibson see increased roles. There’s a lot of hardship in here, a lot of adversity in this city, and I feel like when I play basketball I want people to be proud of their team. We knew they would be a little exhausted coming off the game they had last night, an OT game, having to fight back from 24 (points).
As a die hard Noah fan, I really hope the Bulls can find a way to keep him in Chicago because not only does he love playing for Chicago, but he is beloved by Chicago. But it’s one of those things that happen.
