Ted Cruz fractures GOP over “New York values”

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump speaks during a campaign stop, Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, in Portsmouth, N.H.
“So that was Donald’s own explanation of what NY values are”. To do that (assuming, for the moment, a Trump victory), he has to get by not only Rubio and Cruz, but also former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
“Put down your computer keyboard for a few hours, think before you tweet, and collect yourself”, Levin wrote.
Trump and Cruz have been brawling in recent days after months of friendly relations, with Cruz attacking Trump’s “New York values” and Trump questioning whether Cruz’s Canadian birthplace disqualifies him to be president.
If Cruz predicts that the series will be tied as he and Trump clear the field, SC is being envisioned as the rubber match, the moment when Republicans are forced to decide between two self-stylized conservatives who have deep – but not dominant – appeal. And the entire NY times attack – is that I disclosed that loan on one filing with the United States Senate, that was a public filing.
Trump’s rhetoric represents a shift in strategy as Cruz has risen in national polls and overtaken Trump in Iowa, the key first-nominating state. “And we said that immediately”, Cruz said. Now we have Cruz taking the game eastward. “It’s his way or the highway”, she said of the NY billionaire.
“We are actually occupied with work here”, said Ed McMullen, Trump’s co-chairman in the state, “unlike some other campaigns”.
Joe Bates, the man that wagged his finger at Trump, declined to be interviewed but his wife, Annie, said that the both of them were sick of the attacks. Asked repeatedly turning a town hall meeting about Trump’s impact on the race, Bush called the businessman a talent who “understands why people are angry”.
“The fact of the matter is, that Ted has shown a propensity throughout his career in the U.S. Senate to take one position in front of one audience and then change his position in front of another”, Rubio told NBC News in a Sunday interview.
“Thank goodness most of our costs our taken care of through Medicare”, added Ross, who said he is a Rubio supporter.
Cruz failed to report large loans from Citibank and Goldman Sachs – hence Trump’s tweets about Cruz siding with big banks.
Saturday Night Live’s cold open (video above) mocked this week’s GOP presidential debate, and like the actual GOP presidential debate, SNL’s moderator cornered Ted Cruz on his comments about “New York values”.
“I’m convinced the most long lasting legacy of Barack Obama is a new generation of leaders in the republican party that stand for the constitution”. He ignored a question from Stephanopoulos about whether he would really consider it. When the talk show host brought the issue up again later, Trump said, “When I file suits, I file real suits”.
The two have been locked in an increasingly personal feud ahead of the February 1 Iowa caucuses, where they are running neck-and-neck.
