PCB doubtful about sending team to Zimbabwe
According to the Zimbabwe Cricket Union, Pakistan has not yet signed an MoU to play the series in August.
Currently, Pakistan stand at eighth position with 90 points, while the West Indies are at ninth on the worldwide Cricket Council’s ODI team rankings. The series win has also boosted Pakistan’s rankings in the ICC ODI standings and taken them to eight position, enough for them to qualify for the 2017 Champions Trophy before the cut-offs date. The bilateral series against Zimbabwe was a “favour returned” from Pakistan for Zimbabwe’s tour to Pakistan in May ending a six-year cricket drought in Pakistan. “No final decision has been made as yet and we will discuss this next week when the Chairman Shaharyar Khan returns from London”, he said.
Earlier, West Indies was invited to play a tri-series when Pakistan was supposed to visit Zimbabwe for a reciprocal visit in August.
“We’ll never forget what Zimbabwe did for us and we’ll play a full-fledged tour with them in the near future, which will consist of Tests, ODIs and T20Is as well”, added the official.
