Mexico to Question Actress Kate del Castillo

Penn said he could be in danger but was not afraid of potential threats.

Sean Penn appeared recently on the USA edition of 60 Minutes to discuss his disappointment with how the interview has been perceived, and his reasons for conducting it. You can read a transcript here.

With his controversial Rolling Stone interview with Mexican cartel kingpin Joaquin Guzman or El Chapo, Sean Penn dished out details in an interview with Charlie Rose.

Penn said he does “experiential journalism” and can only write on what he personally experienced with Guzman – not on the murders and corruption he is accused of. Gonzalez said he submitted the injunction at the request of Guzman’s family and neighbors, but didn’t say who exactly, after Mexico began the process of extraditing Guzman to the USA, where he faces drug-trafficking charges.

Penn and Rolling Stone also took the blame for allowing Guzman to review Penn’s article before it was sent to press. “I look forward to sharing my story with you”.

“I’m really sad about the state of journalism in our country… journalists who want to say that I’m not a journalist”. Sean Penn was one of them. Rose asked. “Yes”, Penn said.

Part of the problem is that the Attorney General of Mexico was quoted as saying that Penn was “essential” to El Chapo’s capture, which Penn says is an erroneous statement. The publication of the interview coincided with El Chapo’s recapture by the Mexican government (after a famous escape in July), and many people have questioned Penn’s motives for the interview.

Reports are when he was recaptured by Mexican authorities earlier this month, a note for more than 4,000 pesos’ worth of drugs to improve sexual performance were found at the home where he had been residing. “We had a contact upon which we were able to facilitate an invitation”.

Pressed by Rose, he said, “There are irrational people, so I can’t say for sure that there is no risk”. I was not present to that.

The Hollywood star told CBS News he was disappointed his article has not sparked a discussion about the so-called war on drugs.
