Israeli raid kills 1, wounds 3 in Gaza
A Palestinian killed and three others injured in an Israeli air strike of the northern Gaza Strip Wednesday morning, Palestinian Health Ministry said.
“Israeli forces guarding the border with Gaza face a growing threat from hostile terror groups attempting to destabilise the situation on the ground”, said Israeli army spokesman Peter Lerner.
The Israeli military says forces shot and killed a Palestinian after he tried to stab a soldier in the West Bank.
Now that Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas, who is also the Head of Fatah, is fighting an open and covert war to keep his party together, Fatah is facing yet another crisis.
The military court has been controlled by Hamas since the Islamic movement’s violent takeover of the Gaza Strip in 2007. The enclave remains under an Israeli blockade.
The raid comes amid a wave of Palestinian knife, gun and car-ramming attacks in Israel and the occupied West Bank that began in October.
According to the daily, Hamas members have resumed digging attack tunnels close to the Israeli border fence shortly after the 50-day war ended in late August 2014.
In July and August of 2014, Israel carried out a 51-day offensive against the Gaza Strip that killed more than 2,160 Palestinians, mostly civilians, and injured some 11,000 others.
“We are arguing that this US-flagged vessel is the United States and therefore the injuries inflicted by the Israeli Defense Forces on the ship were inflicted in the United States”, Steven Schneebaum, US Counsel for the plaintiffs, said.
In response, the Gaza Hamas government warned against Israel’s “continued aggression against our people in Gaza”.
The IDF is calling on Israelis to distance themselves from the Gaza border at this time.
