World’s oldest man dies at age 112
Koide, just two months shy of his 113th birthday, died in hospital in the central Japanese city of Nagoya, a local official said Tuesday.
Kyodo news agency reported Tuesday that Yasutaro Koide had died of chronic heart failure in the early hours of the morning.
Born and raised in Nagoya, Mr Koide worked as a tailor when he was younger.
The world record holder claimed the secret to a long life was to avoid drinking and smoking, adding: “The best thing to do is avoid overwork and live with joy”. In April of a year ago, Gertrude Weaver of the USA died just five days after becoming the oldest human on the planet.
Koide was born in the city of Tsuruga in Fukui Prefecture, on March 13, 1903.

Japan, a rapidly ageing country, has more than 61,000 centenarians, according to the nation’s family registration records.

It is not known if there is a woman older than Mushatt living in Turkey waiting to be recognized by Guinness.
