Man Stabbed Ex And Second Student To Death
A former student at a western NY college, distraught over a recent breakup, fatally stabbed his ex-girlfriend and another man before killing himself at an off-campus home, police said Monday. Three bodies were discovered Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, near the State University of NY at Geneseo after Geneseo police responded to the home around 6 a.m. Sunday following a 911 call. The New York Times reported Colin Kingston called his father, Daniel Kingston around 6 a.m on Sunday saying he hurt his girlfriend Kelsey Annese and was considering taking his own life.
Kingston had bought a large knife at a retail store and police think he used that in the killings, Szczesniak said.
The District Attorney’s office said they have no reason to believe anyone else was involved in the incident, and will therefore not file any charges related to this case.
A remembrance event is scheduled to take place at the college on Wednesday.
According to Buffalo News, SUNY Geneseo President Denise A. Battles expressed her condolences to the family and friends of the three young people in a statement on Monday.
Matthew Hutchinson’s gear is seen at the Geneseo Fire Department. “We have experienced a bad tragedy in Geneseo today involving members of our community”.
“We will be supplying professional counselling services for Kelsey’s teammates”. Her jersey sported the number 32, the same one that her dad wore when he played basketball at the school.
The website said Annese was a senior and a member of the women’s basketball team who was an education/Spanish major with a psychology minor. She propelled the team to victory on Saturday night by scoring a three-point play that helped them maintain a double-digit lead, according to The Washington Post.
“Matt did everything at the highest level”, Chanler said.
Chanler said Hutchinson wanted to be a professional firefighter after college and had worked last summer as a forest firefighter back home in British Columbia.
The father called police, who went to Annese’s residence on the second-floor of a house converted into apartments that were mostly occupied by members of the women’s basketball team, Szczesniak said.
“All indications in our investigation at this time is that there was no forceful entry”, Szczensiak said, “although several doors were locked, a rear door was unlocked”.
