Twitter goes down for users worldwide
By 11:15 a.m. today, Twitter‘s developer site for tracking performance and availability reported that service APIs were all performing normally.
Twitter’s service blog, which alerts users to outages, was still available during the downtime, with engineers confirming the social network was “experiencing problems”.
Mitchell Stuart, managing director of Bournemouth-based social media specialist Inferno Media, said: “So many people rely on Twitter to share their daily experiences and updates. Thanks for noticing, we will fix it up and have things back to normal soon”. “We are aware of the issue and are working towards a resolution”, the company said in a statement.
Twitter declined to comment, pointing instead to its status page.
Third-party services, such as TweetDeck, seemed to be working in the USA, but were reportedly delayed or inaccessible elsewhere. The announcement was sent at 0841 GMT.
Twitter has suffered several service disruptions so far this year.
The outage struck a number of locations around the globe, including Europe, the USA and Japan.
Twitter was also down on Monday evening for India users.
As of 5.40pm some users in the UAE were reporting being able to use Twitter again, meaning there appears to be a slight improvement, while others still can’t access the site or tweet anything out.
Tweeting the news about the access struggles users that were connected could not help but highlight the fact that the message would not be seen my many, something that tweeters found rather amusing.
The hashtags #TwitterDown and #Twitterpocalypse were trending on both networks within minutes of the outage.
